Contact Paper – The Answer to All Your Prayers?

When I was a kid, I had a marker problem. I LOVED writing with them so much that I would write all over things. Sometimes I would just write my name a hundred times on a random clipboard. Or there was the instance of my polaroid camera (those were the days) which was covered in doodles just so I could use a paint pen. Well, I got over my marker fetish, but now I am obsessed with something else that makes me want to decorate anything and everything I can get my hands on…Oh contact paper…you are decorative on one side and sticky on the other. Like a giant adult-style sticker. I feel like a kid when I think of all the contact paper possibilities out there. For instance, check out this DIY refrigerator made from contact paper.

(Learn how they did this at ShoeString Pavillion)

Or imagine how much cooler a plain lacquer tray would be if you lined the inside of it with contact paper.

Or for that matter, what about bookshelves?

What are your ideas?

I use contact paper to line kitchen cabinets and shelves- good clean start when you’re in a rental and the paper is easy to clean.
